First railway station in Mumbai (then Bombay). Historical significance as part of India's first train journey from Bori Bunder to Thane on 16 April 1853. Major interchange connecting Central Line and Trans-Harbour Line (platforms 9 & 10 serve Trans-Harbour trains to Navi Mumbai).
The station has 9 platforms with 10 tracks and serves the Central Line and Trans-Harbour Line. With approximately 680K daily passengers, it's one of the busiest stations in Mumbai.
