Gateway to Navi Mumbai and the eastern suburbs. Major junction connecting Harbour, Trans-Harbour, and Vasai Road–Roha lines. Also connects to Panvel-Karjat Railway Corridor and mainline trains to Pune, Goa, and southern India. Serves JNPT (Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust).
